Rara Lake (2980 m) lies in the remote Karnali region in north-western Nepal and is the centerpiece of Rara Lake National Park. It is Nepal’s largest lake whose clear blue waters reflect the juniper, spruce and pine trees along the shores and snowcapped peaks in the distance. Fly into Jumla. The first part of the trek is through forests and over alpine meadows dotted with herds of sheep and goats. After three days, reach stunning Rara Lake with fantastic views of Dolpo and Tibetan mountains across the deep blue water. Spend a day exploring the area with abundant wildlife and enjoy the quiet beaches and the views. The four-day, return trek to Jumla is through remote villages and alpine pastures, with good views of the mountain ranges on the Tibetan border and the southern part of Humla.
